Yunus Social Business - Global Initiatives (YSB) is a network of entities supporting the creation and growth of social impact businesses around the world. Co-founded in 2011 by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus, it is headquartered in Berlin, Germany, and supports entrepreneurs in various developing/emerging countries across the world (including Western Balkans countries, Brazil, Colombia, Haiti, India, Tunisia and Uganda) through incubation and accelerator programs, access to capital and ecosystem development. YSB has conducted multiple projects related to social business with a main emphasis on providing financial and non-financial support to social business entrepreneurs in developing and emerging economies.
YSB is active with its projects in Balkans since mid-2012. It was formally established in Albania, in February 2013 (as “Foundation Yunus Social Business Fund Albania”, registered in Albania in February 2013) and since 2015 it has expanded its activities towards other non-EU Western Balkan countries under its “Yunus Social Business Balkans” name. It aims to address social issues through the supporting creation of startups/businesses that have potential to create social impact for the society in Western Balkan countries. YSB does this through running entrepreneurship inspiration/awareness campaigns, implementing incubation/acceleration and investment readiness programs, facilitating access to financing and supporting development of an enabling entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region.
